EMPLOYMENT IN A LARGE ESTABLISHMENT

The following factors should be considered when deciding to make a career in a large establishment:

1. Greater Specialization is Possible: Large business establishments employ people on the basis of
their training and skills for a particular aspect of the work. In a big firm, therefore, people will do the work they have been trained for and are interested in doing. Under such conditions greater skill and more specialization is possible, and may lead to more pay.

2. Large Establishments are more stable: The large size increases a firm’s chances for success and
survival.

3. Greater Job Security: Since large establishments generally have greater chances for success and
Prosperity, people working in them have a better chance of remaining longer in employment.

4. More Fringe Benefits: Large firms offer better fringe benefits to their workers. Such fringe
Benefits may include pension schemes, company- paid group insurance schemes, free medical expenses, leave allowance, study leave with pay, etc
