EMPLOYMENT IN A SMALL ESTABLISHMENT

What is it like to work in a small establishment? The following should be considered when deciding to make a career in a small business establishment.
1. Independence and Freedom: There could be more freedom in a small establishment because the individual has more personal control over success or failure.

2. Impact of actions is felt more: In a small establishment, an employee’s activities do not have a
noticeable effect on the business. An employee is able to see how his hard work helps the firm
grow. This may bring personal credit to him.

3. More Opportunities for Success: Small firms offer greater opportunities for success for the
worker with exceptional output.

4. More informal and Flexible Rules: Small establishments have less written rules and regulations
restrict activities. This means that policies, decisions and actions are more flexible.

5. Broad Experience is Possible: An employee can perform a variety of different tasks in a small
firm which may pay off in the long run in terms of acquiring more skills and experience.
